This Privacy Policy explains how Zen Photo (“we”, “us”, or “the App”) handles information when you use our iOS application. Zen Photo is an everyday photo editing and album app. Please read this Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

Short summary: photo editing and albums are processed and stored on your device by default. Optional cloud features (text-to-image, feedback/reports, ads, wallpaper search) may send limited data over the internet as described below. You can skip optional cloud features.

Who we are

Zen Photo is a consumer photo editor. Our public policy page may be hosted on a domain we operate for this product. For privacy questions, contact us at the email listed in Section 12.

Information we process

2.1 Photos, edits, and albums (on-device)

• When you choose photos from your library (or camera roll) to edit, crop, filter, restore tone/clarity, add effects, export, or save, those materials are processed on your device.

• Albums and edited files you save inside the App are stored locally on your device, unless you choose to export or share them through iOS system share sheets or save them back to your photo library.

• We do not automatically upload your photo library to our servers for general editing features.

• “Photo Restore” and similar tools adjust tone/clarity on-device and keep your original resolution; they are not AI upscaling services.

2.2 Permissions

• Photo Library — used only when you pick photos to edit, save, or export.

• Tracking (ATT) — if shown, used only to measure advertising performance when you allow tracking. You can change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

We request permissions in context of a feature you choose, not as a condition of opening the App for unrelated purposes.

2.3 Optional AI text-to-image (Studio)

• This feature is optional and is not the main purpose of Zen Photo.

• When you use it, the text prompt you enter is sent over the internet to a third-party cloud provider (Tencent Cloud AI image API) to generate an image.

• This path is designed for text prompts. Do not submit personal data you do not want processed by a cloud provider.

• Internet access is required. Results vary. You may skip this feature entirely.

• We provide in-App reporting for AI-related content concerns (see Section 2.5).

2.4 Wallpaper / inspiration browsing

Some wallpaper or inspiration content may be loaded from third-party content providers (for example, Pixabay) based on search/category requests. Those providers process the request according to their own policies. Any content you download or save follows the provider’s license terms.

2.5 Feedback, suggestions, and AI content reports

• If you submit feedback, suggestions, or an AI content report, we may receive the text you write, a device identifier we use to process the report, app version information, and—only if you attach one—an optional image.

• These submissions are sent to our servers so we can review and respond to issues.

• Please do not include sensitive personal data you do not want us to receive.

2.6 Advertising

• The App may show ads using third-party advertising SDKs, including Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network / Meta SDK.

• These partners may collect device and advertising identifiers, approximate location derived from IP, interaction/diagnostic data, and similar information to deliver, measure, and combat fraud related to ads.

• If you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, advertising partners may use that permission as allowed by Apple and their policies. If you deny tracking, ads may still appear in a less personalized form where permitted.

• We do not sell your photo library contents to advertisers.

2.7 Device and diagnostics information

• We may process limited technical information such as device model, OS version, app version, language, and crash/diagnostic-style events needed to operate ads configuration, feature availability, or support.

• A device identifier may be stored locally and used for feedback/report handling and limited operational analytics related to the App.

2.8 What we do not do by default

• We do not require an account to use core editing features.

• We do not use your photo library as training data for a public AI model operated by us.

• We do not claim that optional cloud AI features are required to use Zen Photo as a photo editor.

How we use information

• Provide photo editing, albums, export/share, and related features you request.

• Provide optional text-to-image generation you explicitly start.

• Show ads and measure ad performance (including fraud prevention).

• Receive and handle feedback / AI content reports.

• Maintain security, reliability, and basic product operations.

• Comply with law and enforce our terms where applicable.

Legal bases (EEA/UK users, where applicable)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:

• Contract / performance of the service you request (editing, export, optional AI generation you start).

• Legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, basic operations), balanced against your rights.

• Consent where required (for example, App Tracking Transparency, and certain advertising/measurement uses).

Sharing of information

We share information only as needed to operate the App:

• Service providers / processors — e.g. Tencent Cloud for optional text-to-image; hosting for feedback/report endpoints.

• Advertising partners — Google and Meta as described above.

• Content providers — e.g. Pixabay when you browse certain wallpapers/inspiration.

• System share destinations — when you choose to share/export via iOS, the destination app’s policy applies.

• Legal — if required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal information as “sale” is commonly understood for photo contents. Advertising SDKs may engage in “sharing” for targeted advertising as defined under some U.S. state laws; you can limit tracking in iOS Settings and use any in-ad or platform controls offered.

International transfers

Cloud AI, advertising, and support infrastructure may process data in countries other than your own (including where Tencent Cloud, Google, or Meta operate). Where required, we take appropriate steps consistent with applicable law for such transfers.

Data retention

• On-device edits/albums — retained on your device until you delete them or remove the App (subject to iOS storage behavior).

• Optional AI prompts/results — handled by the cloud provider to fulfill your request; we do not operate a permanent public gallery of your prompts.

• Feedback/reports — retained as reasonably needed to investigate and improve safety/support, then deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.

• Ads/diagnostics — retained according to our partners’ and our operational needs, for limited periods.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of a consumer photo editor. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please keep your device locked and updated.

Children’s privacy

Zen Photo is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Your choices and rights

• Skip optional AI features, feedback, and reports.

• Deny or reset photo permission in iOS Settings.

• Limit ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

• Delete locally stored albums/edits in the App or by deleting the App.

• Depending on your location (e.g. EEA/UK/California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data we hold, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify your request.

Third-party services and links

Third-party services (including Google, Meta, Tencent Cloud, Pixabay, and any app you share to) have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for third-party practices outside our control.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy, to the extent permitted by law. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App where appropriate.

If labels and this Policy ever differ in wording, this Policy describes practices in more detail; we aim to keep both consistent.
